Origins
Gazo, whose real name is Ibrahima Diakité, was born in 1994 in Châteauroux. He began rapping at a very early age, but it wasn’t until he came of age that the man who used to call himself Bramsou really got into it. After starting out on trap productions, he finally found better prospects on drill beats, and swapped Bramsou for Gazo.
In just a few years, Gazo has gone from new rap sensation to one of the most influential figures in urban music. His music, shaped by the dark aesthetic of British artists and the energy of New York clubs, is distinguished by its magnetic color, tinged with an authenticity that speaks to thousands of people. It’s only natural, then, that Gazo has established himself as a pillar of the French drill scene, through his unique style and history, and by venturing into uncharted musical territory.
A dazzling rise
His unique style, blending drill and trap, quickly won over a wide audience, thanks in particular to his “Drill FR” series of freestyles. These freestyles met with immense success on streaming platforms and social networks, propelling Gazo to the forefront of the scene in 2019. In 2021, he released his eponymous debut album, which met with great success. His second album, “KMT”, was released in 2023 and went platinum in just two months.
For some time now, he has been multiplying his collaborations with artists such as Damso, Soolking and Ninho, enabling him to reach a wider audience and become one of the most listened-to rappers in France. He is due to unveil his next project soon, which will undoubtedly take the charts by storm once again.
